The head is mounted to a four- tiered multicolored base, one level with floral painting, with the colors replicating those utilized in the costume decoration. Exact maker unknown, possibly Hertwig, but with some characteristic of certain French companies who manufactured similar elaborately modeled and painted busts, primarily of slightly older ladies and gentlemen. Inside the basis are some numbers which appear to be “ 1523 28 “, but not well incised . In very good overall condition………………………………………SOLD.

Superb quality 9” ( 23cm ) 1920s-era all porcelain covered box/jar featuring a young lady wearing two colored turban-type hat with protruding white feather, red earrings, with both elbows touch box lid but with right hand molded away and left holding an extended open fan holding up and just barely touch upper left arm. Her flared and puffy knee-length dress forms both the lower part of the upper container as well as the upper part of the lower half of the entire figure. Her bare legs with molded and painted blue slippers are permanently affixed to the raised white porcelain base edged in gold luster and form the basis to support the “top half “. A magnificent decorative object created with great imagination of design! ( No markings found other than what might be construed to be a small red “D” inside the upper part under the skirt but it is barely distinguishable.) ……………………….US$ 345.

He wears the tradition costume with thick ruffled collar and black skullcap. The orange box itself is a rich orange decorated in yellow to portray butterflies. Underneath the base on bottom is a signature for the French firm of “ Aladin “ and as such signed as well as “ Made in France “ with the remnants of a paper retailers label from a store in Bordeaux. Circa later 1910s-very early 20s still partially intact. In very good condition!…………………………..…….…US$ 325.

Beautiful large ( 5 ½”, 14cm ) tall German Art Deco porcelain half doll incised at back bottom of base “ 8669 “, most probably by Hertwig, with nude torso, left hand pressed back and resting at back of waist, right arm bent at elbow and holding in hand a contracted fan edged in yellow and magenta, wearing a chain necklace, gold drop earrings, having radical 1920s hairstyle with widow’s peak and “bob curls “ framing her face in true “ Clara Bow “ style, a haughty smiling expression with open/closed mouth, and perhaps most striking is the heavy makeup area around the eyes that have three dimensionally modeled lids. A most impressive piece with no damage or restoration observed……….US$$ 295.

Attractive 5”(13cm ) porcelain half doll circa 1920 portraying a Pierette with nude torso, right hand clasped around the wrist of the left whose hand rests on the girl’s chin. She has her head tilted down and to the left exhibiting a pensive expression yet serene. The fingers of the left hand are somewhat splayed. She has well painted eyes and lashes, the three tufts of golden hair peek out from the black hat or skullcap covering the majority of the head. On bottom of front base there is an impressed logo of F&W Goebel and Co., and on the base in back “ 336 “. As one knows Goebel was the firm that went on to make the famed “ Hummel “ figurines………………………………………………..SOLD.

4” (10cm ) German half-doll lady with nude torso , elbows bent away but close to body, hands extended outward in unique poses with eyes concentrated as if looking down to palm of the right hand. She has a most elaborate hairstyle in that it is relatively long red hair with braids on both sides wrapping around to the back and tied, reaching just to below the neckline, and secured on top by a long blue ribbon in front of forehead into two bows on the side, then hair extending to form a second ribbon running horizontally across the top of the head. Descending downward from the obscured ears are long gold earrings. Based on the stylistic painting of the eyes one would suspect she is a Hertwig from Germany and from the 1910s as hairstyle is a slight holdover from the Art Nouveau period yet not yet sufficiently radical to represent the “ roaring-20s “! The numbers “12665 “ are impressed on back of base. Excellent condition…………………………………SOLD.

Exceptional and impressive pair of Gebruder Heubach bisque figurines, 15” ( 38cm ) tall including the bases, and representing an Edwardian-era couple at sea at the helm, each steering his/her own wheel wearing multiple-colored costumes with mauve and robin’s egg blue with gold luster edging the predominate colors. The lady has long gloves which meet the sleeves at the elbow and a flowing cape caught by the breeze accentuating the superior three- dimensional overall modeling for which Heubach is considered the ultimate master of design and execution. There is an embossed Heubach “ fan “ logo on the back of the base of the gentleman. Unfortunately the lady has some damage at the front of her skirt but has been well reglued and touched up resulting in a slight yellowing over time but this pair is hard too find, and as such still reasonably priced at only……SOLD.
