19" ( 49 cm ) Kamkins cloth doll circa 1920,s , bearing a black stamp on top back of head under the wig reading" KAMKINS  ATLANTIC CITY  PATD' NOV 2, 1920 " , and has molded and painted facial features, a dark blond/pale light brown bobbed mohair wig, cloth body with joints at shoulder and hips, sewn together fingers with separately sewn thumbs, and wears and 1920's brightly colored red print cotton two piece outfit, and a lovely wool plaid knee length coat with fuzzy collar and matching hat of same materials, brown silky knee length socks, and period while leather shoes with thread cord ties and cardboard soles. It is unsure if all or any of the clothing is original but at worst it is all suitable based on style, age , and materials. Thee facial paint is bright and original with little is any wear or surface dust. Accompanying with and included in the sale is a brass circular " sand sifter " with tied in beach sand shovel, and painted tin " crab " and " shell ". Although they are probably not made by Kamkins, they are all of the period of the doll, in near mint condition, yet to be removed from the attachment strings, and appropriate as the doll is a " child of the Atlantic City beaches" !............................................................US$ 1,350.

The overall condition is very good with no repairs or repaint, only some discoloration to the cloth arms with some minor stress on a few finger tips. On the sole of the left foot is a stamped five digit number but is somewhat faded to state exactly which numbers there are. One of the earliest Kathe Kruse doll models ( short of the earliest " frog hand " child ) , stamped on the left foot in red " Kathe Kruse ( a signature script ) , 0709 ( in black ink ), with" wide hip " cloth body with diagonal hip joints, a sewn seam at both shoulders, individual stitched fingers with a widely separated thump, and painted hair and facial features. As one can see even without detailed explanation, he has been well loved, with some typical age wear primarily to cheeks and hair, and some dust and discoloring throughout the body but he is solid and shows no sign of repaint or repair. The one piece cotton romper suit is original as most likely the brown crocheted knee length stockings and leather camel colored shoes are newer but style-wise appropriate. The cloth cap is at least old if not original. A charming early doll but as the description indicates has some age related issues. These are taken into account in assigning the sale price at just ...............................US 1,100.

Attractive early 1930's Lenci girl from the " 300 Series ", 17" ( 43cm ), dressed in a typical regional costume representing the Brittany area of France. Sewn to her apron is a heart shaped paper tag  reading " Breton ". She has the typical molded pressed cloth head with painted features with eyes glancing ever-so-slightly to her right, an elaborate blond mohair wig with center part and braided bun in back covered by a crocheted snood-like bonnet with gauze and lace front and a blue silk ribbon tied in top front of head. The costume consists of a dark brown long sleeved dress with pleated gauze and silk blouse, a silk shawl with fringed edging and a black silk high apron with embroidered colorful flowers as well has a bead necklace. The shoes are brown felt that match the dress ( one missing a bottom sole ) and all the underwear is original layered linen. The facial painting is still bright and clean although is a slight loss of red paint on the lower lip. The overall condition of the costume is also good but with a few moth holes to the felt on left sleeve and one small area beneath the black silk apron.....................US$ 975.
