16" ( 41cm ) " Hilda " toddler by JD Kestner with head incised "made in Germany 237 gesch. N1070 " with blue glass sleep eyes, open mouth with two upper teeth, well painted lashes and multistroke blond brows, and wearing the original yellow blond short lambs wool wig glued tightly to the head. She is on the original fat Kestner fully jointed toddler body with diagonal hip joining, straight wrists and extra rolls of fat on the forearms, all in very good condition with original painted finish. The costume consists of an antique fine cotton and lace white dress, a pink and white crocheted wool yarn short sweater jacket, old undergarments, very nice antique white leather boots, and a linen bonnet with cloth flowers. A very nice example of this most popular Kestner child!...........................US$ 1,900.

Diminutive 12" ( 31cm ) bisque head boy by Simon & Halbig ( made for Dressel ) incised "1498  3 " with molded and painted hair, inset stationary blue glass eyes, open/closed mouth , with upper and lower painted lashes and multi-stroke brows. He is mounted to a good quality German fully articulated pink wood and composition body with original finish and is dressed in white linen trousers and a cranberry and white crocheted sweater with a "wintry " design, as well as antique black leather shoes. The 1498 by S&H is the exact same mold as the much beloved " 1488 "  although the " 1488 " has a cut head with a wig and the " 1498 " molded hair mandating that it be represented as a boy. A rare little doll and seldom fsound in this tiny size!............................US$ 950.

Seldom found realistic bisque head baby representing a literally newborn child, incised in back of head "3   OIC " and has molded and painted hair, tiny inset glass " bead size " eyes with extremely realistic facial modeling with wide open/closed mouth, a red tongue , exposed gums ( too young to have any teeth ) , in a screaming/hysterical expression known all too well to anyone exposed to a newborn and their characteristics. The head has a wide " flange " neck which allows it to be sewn/ attached to the cloth baby body with painted composition hands. He is dressed in a short antique white cotton baby dress and slip and is 12 1/2" ( 32cm ) in length with a head circumference of about 10" ( 25cm ) measured just above the ears. Hard to find and this one is offered at a reasonable ( considering its rarity )......................................SOLD

c383b.jpg (1432937 bytes) Sweet 10 1/2" ( 27 cm ) long Armand Marseille Asian baby incised on back of head " A. ELLAR ( within a star of David logo ) M. Germany 2K ". He has brown glass sleep eyes, a closed mouth  , olive/yellowy tinted bisque with painted black hair ( all coloring is " fired in " ) and mounted to a five piece bent limb baby body with original well -coordinated coloring to the head and having both fists clenched with index fingers slightly pointed out. He has all original simple factory cotton clothing with original orange felt booties ( safety-pinned to the costume ) and an original necklace with glass beads. A very nice example in a delightful size in good original condition.................................................SOLD.

The largest known size ( 19 1/2" , 50 cm ) of the first in the long and popular series of the Kammer and Reinhardt character dolls and known to collectors as the " Kaiser baby ". He is incised in back of the head " K&*R 100   50 " and has well modeled and painted hair and facial features with blue eyes, and open/closed mouth. The body is the original pink composition five piece bent limb baby body with original finish (some paint wear and " scrubbed " areas ) in overall good condition. The clothing is antique white cotton and lace with well- coordinated bonnet, underclothes and socks. A classic doll at a very reasonable ..............................US$ 550.
